Liber Amicorum, made for curator Jan Piet Puype.

Farewell to Arms

There is a saying, 'from paperboy to millionaire', a challenging message that everyone who seizes the day and uses his talents can realise his dreams. The saying 'from investment consultant to head curator' may be less familiar, yet the same message is at heart. Although it only applies (as far as we know) to one person.

This book is dedicated to that person. That person is Jan Piet Puype, who made a transformation from a simple bank teller, with all due respect, to an internationally known and acclaimed museum curator. This book appeared on the occassion of Puype's 65th birthday and thus also marks his retirement.

It contains articles on all aspects of Jan Piet's work: armour and arms, in the broadest sense of the word. The articles covers such areas as Swedish snaphance locks, Military Binoculars, an unknown vikingsword from Russia, Two Dutch firearms in the Frazier Historical Arms Museum and many more.
